Science fiction writer Syd, struggling with a creative crisis, is trying to recapture the feeling of inspiration he felt when he was younger. To pay the bills, he needs to come up with a story and apply for a grant, the deadline for which expires today, on a serene Sunday in mid-summer. And on the same Sunday, his torment is interrupted by an unexpected invitation: the place where Sid grew up is about to be sold, and his mother wants him to come home for a modest farewell dinner.
